About Reflexology
Reflexology is an ancient holistic therapy whereby reflex points found on the feet correspond to areas of the body. Gentle pressure is used and by stimulating these points reflexology aims to help re-balance a person’s energy in the hope that the individual may achieve optimum health.
Practitioners believe that reflexology releases blockages in channels running throughout the body, allowing systems to flow more freely and therefore function more efficiently. It is hoped that this action will allow healing to take place and also help to prevent the onset of illness.
Rather than isolating the problem areas, reflexology treats the individual as a whole: physically, psychologically, emotionally and spiritually, allowing a state of natural well-being to be restored and maintained.
A variety of conditions may be helped by reflexology including:
Migraine
Chronic fatigue
Thyroid dysfunction
Stress
Premenstrual and menopause symptoms
Fertility and maternity care
Irritable bowel syndrome
Asthma

Once pregnant the mum- to-be will experience rapid changes in her body. Reflexology can often relieve some of the discomforts of pregnancy:
Morning sickness can sometimes be eased, although the nausea is a good sign to have as it indicates that the hormones are being utilised to help in the early stages of development.
Constipation.
Back ache and symphysis pubis pain.
Problems with blood pressure. (Medical attention should always be sought for continued high blood pressure)
Heartburn.
Anxiety and stress.
Hand and ankle swelling.
Please be aware that the usual monitoring by a midwife is advised. Reflexology does not replace this essential care but aims at supporting it.
Treatment in the first trimester will need to be discussed with the client before the decision is taken to go ahead.
